A Montana builder, start to finish.
Frontier Building Group has been building custom homes in Montana for over 10 years. From the first call to the final walkthrough, one builder is in charge of your job.
A lot of the people we build for are moving here from out of state and hiring someone they've only talked to on the phone. We take that seriously. You get one point of contact, real numbers before anything gets dug, and a job site you'd be fine showing up to any day of the week.

Budget before drawings
We put real numbers on it early, based on what building actually costs around here, so the plan fits the budget from the start.

Framing to finish
Framing, roof, siding, mechanicals and trim, all on one schedule with one person keeping it moving.
IV
Walkthrough & closeout
We walk it with you, knock out the punch list and leave the site clean. If something comes up after you move in, call us.

I have land but no plans. Where do I start?
With an overview call. We'll talk through what you want, your land and your budget, and if it's a fit, set up a site visit. You don't need drawings to get started.
Can you handle the well, septic and driveway?
Yes. Between our crews and trusted subs, we handle the excavation, the driveway and the foundation, and we line up the well driller and the septic installer and manage them like everything else.
Do I need an architect?
Not always. A simpler home can be drawn by a designer we work with. For a full custom build we'll work with your architect, or point you to one we trust.
What types of homes do you build?
Everything from simple, well-built family homes to high-end custom builds, plus barndominiums. We price each one on its own.

For budgeting only. Not a quote or a bid.
What moves the number
- Two stories cost less per square foot than one. A walkout basement costs more.
- Steep or rocky ground can add retaining walls and rock excavation.
- Big Sky and remote sites add drive time, hauling and snow-load framing.
- A long power line, a deep well or an engineered septic system can double those lines.
- Building inside Bozeman city limits adds impact fees.
- Timber-frame rooms and other one-of-a-kind pieces get bid on the job.
- Lumber, steel and windows moved in 2026 with tariffs. These ranges track today's prices.
Planning ranges only, not a quote. Land, permits, design fees and finish selections move the number.
